This article is seeping with truth and wisdom. When I read Hillbilly Elegy years ago, I found myself rolling my eyes at his propensity to blame poverty on the impoverished. He made it out, but for every person who rises out of poverty, many don't. Poverty isn't a condemnation against a person's worth, it's a side effect of our system. Thank you so much for writing this.
