I think there is value to this article for two reasons.
- Some men (#notallmen) do have a hard time being emotionally vulnerable. I’ve seen it in my own father and in many relationships. But this article tells women that we ought to understand these men, instead of telling men to work toward emotional openness. Too, emotional vulnerability is an incredible strength. It does not make anyone less “alpha,” but more so.
- This article uncovers an uncomfortable truth for many men, which is that their emotional experience does matter, and is necessary to foster a working relationship. It would be nice to show men how to be more emotionally open, which this article reaches for, but does not achieve.
